Detours will be in effect from June 8-12 for two CATA bus routes because of multiple construction projects on Beaver Avenue in downtown State College.
West Beaver Avenue will be fully closed between South Atherton and South Burrowes Street for three days beginning Monday while a tower crane is placed on the construction site for the Nittany Residence Club. Crews also will be replacing a water line on the 100 block of East Beaver Avenue near Addison Court, and roadway patching work along the road will result in lane restrictions throughout the week.
The closures will affect CATA’s Atherton Connector and College Connector routes.
Atherton Connector
The southbound Atherton Connector will be unable to serve the following stops during the detour period:
- Stop 360 – James Elliot Building (South Burrowes Street)
- Stop 361 – Schlow Library/CATA Customer Service Center (East Beaver Avenue)
- Stop 364 – oLiv Highland (South Pugh Street)
- Stop 365 – South Pugh Street & East Nittany Avenue
Affected riders are should use Stop 359 at the Westgate Building and Stop 368 at South Pugh Street and East Hamilton Avenue.
College Connector (CC)
The westbound College Connector will be unable to serve the following stops during the detour period:
- Stop 361 – Schlow Library/CATA Customer Service Center (East Beaver Avenue)
- Stop 565 – Beaver Hill Apartments (East Beaver Avenue and Hiester Street)
Affected riders are should use the following stops Stop 246 at West Beaver Avenue and South Barnard Street and Stop 564 on East Beaver Avenue at Calder Commons.
Normal service is expected to resume on Saturday, June 13.
“We appreciate your patience as these construction projects are completed,” CATA wrote in a news release. “Riders are encouraged to plan for possible delays and allow additional travel time during the detour period.”
